Dania Akkad
Dania Akkad is a recent graduate of the Salt Institute for Documentary in Portland, Maine where she documented the life of a YMCA swimming pool. ("Splashing experience!") This fall, she goes into her senior year at Wellesley College, majoring in Anthropology and midnight short story scribbling. A big fan of wandering, she has had some exhilarating experiences including a meeting with a psychic in the Red Rocks of Sedona, a brief stint training in the British army, a summer job at a dude ranch, a marriage proposal in Damascus and a near fist-fight with a grandmother in Rome. The journey continues this summer, interning with American Radio Works. "My compass," she says, "has finally taken me to my Shangri-La."
