Fametta Sawyer
Fametta Sawyer is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Audio Technology at American University in Washington, D.C. Having stumbled upon this degree by a curious stroke of luck, she does not have any definite plans as to what she will do after graduation. Of the NPR internship she says, " I think this program is really valuable. The environment is really relaxed and everyone around is more than willing to help you out. With Intern Edition, I get a chance to put into practice some of the skills and theory I have been learning and use them in a real-world context, and hopefully produce an exceptional final product."

She was born in Brighton, MA but has been living in the DC Metropolitan area since she was two. In her free time she enjoys listening to and playing a variety of types of music, though, she says, her favorite "is and always will be jazz because while everything in a song is based on a certain structure, there is so much that can be done within that structure that the opportunities for creativity are endless." In the next few years she hopes to finish school, travel (in the US and abroad), and hopefully land a job that will allow her to combine her interests in music, audio and the sciences.
