Courtney Knowlton

Courtney Knowlton of Montclair, New Jersey, is the summer intern at Radio Expeditions, a production of NPR and the National Geographic Society. She is a rising senior at Amherst College, majoring in English and Spanish. Courtney spent the fall of last year living with a family in Valparaiso, Chile and attending La Universidad Catolica. While there, she also taught at a school and traveled through much of South America. At Amherst, she has been a member of the field hockey and lacrosse teams; an ESL tutor; and she was a coordinator of 'The Five College Relay for Life,' a major fundraiser for cancer that raised close to $15,000 its first year. She graduated cum laude from the Montclair Kimberley Academy where she earned twelve varsity letters and was the captain of the field hockey, lacrosse and swim teams, as well as the co-president of Amnesty International and the Women's Issues Group. While in high school Courtney spent two consecutive summers working at schools in East Africa.
