Isela Luevano
Isela Luevano, of Chino, California, is currently interning at Morning Edition. Isela has 8 years experience in radio broadcasting, mostly recently working at Inland Empire News Radio, a Riverside-based news service covering Riverside and San Bernardino counties for NPR member station KVCR-FM.
Isela recently returned from New York City where she covered a story regarding the inefficiency with which Puerto Rican elected officials are representing New York's diverse Latino community.
She is a student member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and is among the first recipients of NAHJ's Maria Elena Salinas Scholarship.
Isela is a communications major at Cal State Fullerton and expects to receive her degree next spring after which she plans to pursue a master's degree in Latin American studies to prepare her for a career in radio and TV reporting on issues affecting Latinos in the United States and abroad.
