Listen to Intern Edition 2002

Words from Sarita Jackson, Executive Producer

August 6, 2002 is a date the interns at National Public Radio will not forget. That was the day that the show premiered successfully. It seems so long ago yet not so far away when the IE team was created and we were in our planning stage.

Of course, I was a bit nervous having to take on the role of executive producer for the first time. Worries about whether or not I'd do a good job, make the right decisions, communicate effectively with a staff or produce an outstanding show cluttered my brain until the very first Intern Edition meeting. The enthusiasm and support of all of the interns ever since the beginning reduced my fears to grains of salt. Listening to the show today made me feel a sense of accomplishment, pride, joy and relief. As I've told many people around here, after this project, I'm ready to lead the country. Well, I think I'll just stick to my goal of being a presidential adviser.

I speak on behalf of all of the interns when I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of the NPR staff members who took the time to lead training sessions and help edit the show. These people include:

Jim Lesher
Mark Greenhouse
Rachel Basofin
Alyne Ellis
Jonathan Kern
Sora Newman
Barbara Bradley
Josh Rogosin

I must end by thanking Project Manager Doug Mitchell for having enough confidence in all of us to write, edit and produce our own show. You're the greatest!
