NPR Interns
Summer 2002
Washington, DC

Mikhaila Richards
Mikhaila Richards is a junior at Smith College in Northampton, MA, where she majors in Government (yes, it's the same thing as Political Science. Seriously.) She's a Jamaican super striver who has also grown up in Canada (hence, the lack of distinguishable Jamaican accent…yes, you can still be Jamaican if you don't have the accent. Seriously.)

While focusing on the realm of print media - specifically print and online magazine writing - Mikhaila stumbled upon the exciting world of radio while working as reporter for a fledgling news-radio program for college radio stations. This summer she is an NPR intern for The Tavis Smiley Show.

What are her professional aspirations? She isn't entirely sure. But they involve living in San Francisco, journalism and/or marketing. Whatever opportunity comes her way, Mikhaila hopes to enjoy it and work hard to make it as valuable as possible.

Mikhaila enjoys theatre, photography, film and overhearing political discussions between random patrons of public transportation.

Mikhaila will be on her way to the London School of Economics and Political Science this October for her junior year abroad. She hopes to succeed at whatever she stumbles upon next.
