Shira H. Fischer was born in Boston, MA. In the past year, since graduating from Harvard College with a degree in Biochemical Sciences, she has been to a number of countries, including Moldova, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Israel. Shira comes to NPRís online department with experience working at the national radio station in Israel and editing her college paperís Web site. Less related experience includes discussing global warming in Japan, guiding tours in a Boston museum, harvesting bacteria for their DNA, working in a preschool, and hanging out with her younger brother and sister. At NPR, Shira has been working on build-outs (Web pages) for the main shows, including Morning Edition and All Things Considered. Highlights of working at NPR for Shira include learning NPR lingo and hearing NPR non-stop all day. Shira speaks Hebrew, French, and some Japanese.
