Assistant News Director/Assignment Editor
WUFT-FM/Classic 89 is re-opening its search for an Assistant News Director. We're looking for someone who can help maintain a tradition of excellence that includes awards from AP, RTNDA, and PRNDI. The job involves day-to-day supervision and training of about 20-30 students who report and produce daily newscasts. The primary function of the job is managing assignments, and reviewing and editing scripts and stories for air. In addition, the A-N-D acts as liaison for convergence activities, and may cover stories and fill-in on-air, on occasion and as required.
Salary Range: Salary Range is $33,000 to $35,000
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two years broadcast news reporting and/or producing is required. Master's degree or equivalent experience is preferred. Successful candidate must have knowledge of and experience with computers and digital audio editing. Experience with students, and/or managing others, preferred. Public radio experience is helpful. Experience working in a newsroom with cooperative effort with other journalism platforms preferred.
