Building the Best!
NABJ 2002
July 28 - August 3, 2002
Milwaukee, WI
Since 1995, NPR has sponsored the radio training project at NABJ. Two past participants are now working full-time as producers at NPR in Washington. Another past participant is working as a newswriter and reporter at NPR member station WBUR in Boston. Two from last year's NABJ radio project were interns at NPR, with one serving as Executive Producer for "Intern Edition." Another, who wrote and voiced a poem for last year's project, recently completed an internship at NPR. This year, NABJ is in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and has a slightly different approach. We teamed with NPR member station WUWM , and commercial station Newsradio 620 WTMJ. One participant this year was selected to spend a day at Newsradio 620, reporting on the news of the day under the guidance of WTMJ News Director Dan Shelley. This is the first time we have partnered with a commercial radio station to create stories for use in their and our newscasts. All audio and video content can be found on this site as well as http://www.nabjconvention.org.
