Peter Kenyon, NPR Biography
Foreign Correspondent, Cairo
Foreign correspondent Peter Kenyon is currently based in Cairo, covering Middle Eastern and North African countries from Syria to Morocco. He was part of NPR's team recognized with an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University award for outstanding coverage of post-war Iraq.
Peter moved to Cairo in 2005, after nearly four years in Jerusalem covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Besides regular stints in Iraq, he has followed stories to Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Bahrain, Qatar and other countries.
Peter has been with NPR full-time since 1995, spending six years in Washington, including a stint as NPR's Senate correspondent during the second Clinton term and the beginning of the Bush administration.
Peter came to NPR from the Alaska Public Radio Network. He began his public radio career in the small fishing community of Petersburg, where he met his wife Nevette, a commercial fisherwoman.
