Public Radio Broadcasters from Around the World to Meet in Florida
May 24-27, 2000

Washington, DC - Public broadcasters and technology visionaries from around the world will meet in Florida for this year's Public Radio Conference (PRC) called PRC 2000: The Next Generation, May 24th - 27th in Lake Buena Vista. Keynote speakers at the conference will include National Public Radio® (NPR®) President and Chief Executive Officer Kevin Klose, Fast Company Founding Editor Alan Webber and Carnegie Corporation President Vartan Gregorian. The conference will also feature NPR journalists including All Things Considered® hosts Robert Siegel and Linda Wertheimer, Talk of the Nation® host Juan Williams, correspondent Sylvia Poggioli, and newscasters Carl Kasell and Ann Taylor, as well as singer Nancy Wilson, host of Jazz Profiles®. The PRC, which is coordinated and managed by NPR, will be held at the Wyndham Palace Resort and Spa at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Wednesday, May 24th

Luncheon with Kevin Klose and Alan Webber: Alan Webber, Founding Editor of Fast Company magazine and NPR President and CEO Kevin Klose will discuss how public radio can thrive in the multi-media era.

Thursday, May 25th

9:45 to 10:30 a.m.
Opening General Session: Featuring Kevin Klose and Vartan Gregorian, President of the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

2-4 p.m.
Talk of the Nation Live Broadcast Remote: As part of the NPR News "Changing Face of America" series, Talk of the Nation host Juan Williams and special guests will engage in a lively discussion about the elderly in America. The remote will be held at the Marks Street Senior Recreation Complex at 99 East Marks Street in Orlando.

Saturday, May 29th

12:30 - 2 p.m.
NPR's Changing Face of America News Luncheon with Juan Williams: Talk of the Nation host Juan Williams will interview New York Times columnist and author Joel Kotkin.

8 - 9:15 p.m.
NPR Onstage: Sergei & Satchmo: Featuring the Orlando Philharmonic, the Terence Blanchard Sextet and Nancy Wilson at the Disney Institute Cinema. NPR hosts, correspondents and newscasters, including Robert Siegel, Linda Wertheimer, Ann Taylor, Sylvia Poggioli and Carl Kasell will lead a cast of NPR personalities in Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf - told as a breaking NPR News story - with the Orlando Philharmonic. Then, New Orleans trumpet sensation Terence Blanchard and his Sextet, and singer Nancy Wilson, who hosts Jazz Profiles®, will pay tribute to Louis Armstrong.
