NPR ON LOCATION IN SEATTLE
WASHINGTON, DC-Wait Wait . . .Don't Tell Me!®, the "oddly informative" weekly one-hour radio quiz show from NPR® that takes a fast-paced irreverent look at the news, will tape live from Seattle, Wash., on Thursday, May 17, 2001.
This is the first time listeners in Seattle will have the opportunity to see the entire Wait Wait…Don't Tell Me! cast in person. Hosted by award-winning playwright Peter Sagal, the event will feature Seattle columnist and author Dan Savage, BBC contributor Sue Ellicott, author and humorist Roy Blount, Jr. and writer and performer Adam Felber in front of a live audience of 1,400. The panelists and listeners will be quizzed to determine how closely they paid attention to the week's news…from U.S./Sino relations to Tom Cruise's lawsuit against an "erotic wrestler." Listeners will compete for a chance to win the most coveted prize in public radio: the voice of Carl Kasell, legendary NPR newscaster and Wait Wait …Don't Tell Me!'s official judge and scorekeeper, giving the outgoing message on their home answering machine.
Wait Wait . . . Don't Tell Me! is heard on 180 public radio stations throughout the country and aired locally on KUOW 94.9 FM on Mondays at 7:00 PM and Saturdays at 12:00 Noon. This performance can be heard on KUOW on Saturday, May 19, and Monday, May 21 . KUOW also streams live on the web at www.kuow.org. Wait Wait . . . Don't Tell Me! is a production of NPR and WBEZ Chicago.
NPR on-air personalities, producers and staff will be in Seattle Wednesday, May 16, through Saturday, May 19, participating in the annual Public Radio Conference.
