Eartha Kitt is Special Guest on Live NPR Quiz Show
Hosted by WSHU Public Radio in Norwalk
Fairfield, CT - Wait Wait . . .Don't Tell Me!®, the irreverent and oddly informative radio news quiz from NPR®, will record a live show in Norwalk on Thursday, April 25, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. Singer and actress Eartha Kitt will appear on this special, live edition of the program to play "Not MY Job" and answer quiz questions about a topic outside of her areas of expertise. Ms. Kitt will play on behalf of a call-in contestant.
For the first time, listeners in Southern Connecticut and Long Island will have an opportunity to see the Wait Wait…Don't Tell Me! cast in action. Hosted by award-winning playwright Peter Sagal with legendary NPR newscaster Carl Kasell as official judge and scorekeeper, the two-hour show will also feature author and humorist Adam Felber, journalist Roxanne Roberts, and Esquire magazine's Charlie Pierce. Wait Wait Live in Norwalk will include games familiar to listeners of the weekly radio show, with panelists and callers answering questions about the news, "filling in the blank" at lightning speed, sniffing out fake news items, deciphering limericks, and bantering about weird events in the news. Callers compete for the most coveted prize in public radio: a home answering machine greeting custom recorded by Carl Kasell.
Wait Wait . . . Don't Tell Me! is broadcast on more than 200 public radio stations in the U.S., including 91.1 FM WSHU and 89.9 FM WSUF , where it airs Saturday at 1:00 p.m., and 1260 AM WSHU where it can be heard every Sunday at 1:00 p.m. This live edition of the program will be broadcast locally on WSHU Public Radio on Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28, 2002, from 1-2:00 p.m. (see local frequencies below).
