This month, All Songs Considered introduced the podcast "Open Mic Music," showcasing work of new artists, who also record the opening of the podcasts to explain the influences on and stories behind their music. Also, the NPR Podcast "Groove Salad's Taste of the Week," offers a selection of electronica music from San Francisco's non-commercial Internet radio station, SomaFM.
NPR's broadcast programming slate has the trend-setting contemporary music series World Café as well as performance series showcasing jazz, classical, opera, symphony and Celtic. The NPR Shop (shop.NPR.org) offers a wide variety of compilation, themed and holiday CDs. Holiday box sets of the "All Songs Considered" and "I heard it on NPR" collections are currently available.
