TIFT MERRITT PERFORMS LIVE AND TAKES LISTENER CALLS

March 19, 2008; Washington, D.C. – Singer Tift Merritt and her band will perform live and answer questions from listeners on NPR News’ afternoon interview and call-in show, Talk of the Nation, tomorrow, Thursday, March 20 beginning at 3:00PM (ET). This edition of Talk of the Nation will be available as free streaming audio tomorrow at 6:00PM (ET) at www.NPR.org, and as a podcast at 7:00PM (ET). The interview and performance will also be available at www.NPR.org/music

During the program, host Neal Conan will interview Merritt about her music, career and latest release, Another Country. She released her first album, Bramble Rose, in 2002; her follow-up, 2004’s Tambourine, was nominated for a Grammy Award and three Americana Music Awards. Merritt joins a growing list of artists to perform live on Talk of the Nation, including Bruce Hornsby, Yusuf Islam (formerly known at Cat Stevens) and Wilco.
