NPR NAMES DEBRA DELMAN SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT,
STRATEGIC OPERATIONS AND FINANCE



June 8, 2009; Washington, D.C. – Debra Delman, former Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Discovery Networks International, has been named NPR’s Senior Vice President for Strategic Operations and Finance, announced Vivian Schiller, NPR’s President and CEO. Reporting directly to Schiller, Delman stepped into the new job on June 1. She will oversee all of NPR’s strategic, operational, and business planning as well as financial, administrative and human resources operations.

The announcement of Delman comes on the heels of an unprecedented year of audience growth for NPR with 27.5 million listeners each week despite a challenging economic climate.

“Debra is a top notch leader in the business of media and I’m thrilled to have her on board,” said Schiller. “She brings a wide breadth of experience to the table that will undoubtedly help NPR grow new forms of revenue while championing NPR’s most valuable asset – its people.”

Delman brings more than 20 years of experience in financial and operations planning and leadership in radio and television, as well as in banking and investment. Since 2005, she has been with Discovery Communications, Inc. as SVP and CFO of Discovery Networks International, managing the overall financial and strategic direction of a division with more than $1 billion in revenue. At Discovery, Delman successfully directed a global team of over 150 professionals and helped the international division grow year after year in ratings, audience, revenue, and profitability.

Delman earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Hartford and an MBA from Pace University Lubin Graduate School in New York. She resides with her family in Washington, DC.
