NPR HOSTS TO SPEAK AT 2011 ASPEN IDEAS FESTIVAL

NPR'S 'TALK OF THE NATION' TO BROADCAST LIVE JUNE 28 & 29 FROM HOTEL JEROME

NPR hosts Neal Conan of Talk of the Nation, Michel Martin of Tell Me More and Michele Norris of All Things Considered will speak, present, broadcast and moderate sessions throughout the first week of the 2011 Aspen Ideas Festival, beginning with the festival’s opening night event on Monday, June 27.

In national broadcasts from Aspen, panels and presentations, the NPR hosts will explore topics such as race in America, what the country has learned post 9/11, the origin of ideas, green technology and the power of investing in women. During the festival's opening night event, Martin and Norris will share their "big ideas" in 3 minutes or less. Martin will also discuss themes and ideas associated with the critically-acclaimed independent film The Interrupters by engaging in conversation with the film's director and producers.

All three hosts will convene on Tuesday, June 28 for Talk of the Nation's live broadcast (second hour) to discuss how talking about the things that make us different is critical to a diverse society. They'll explore why conversations relating to topics such as race, religion, ethnicity, sexual preference, and mental health can be difficult.
