NPR INTRODUCES 'ASK ME ANOTHER'
HOUR OF PUZZLES, WORD GAMES AND TRIVIA, DEBUTING MAY 4

PUB TRIVIA MEETS COMEDY CLUB, HOSTED BY
COMEDIAN OPHIRA EISENBERG, WITH MUSICIAN JONATHAN COULTON

Dust off the Britannica, and brush up on those Pop-Up Video reruns. When all else fails, let the tunes clue you in.

You'll need it for NPR's Ask Me Another, a rambunctious hour of puzzles, word games and trivia that blends brainteasers with a pub quiz. The first season will air on NPR Member stations beginning May 4 (contact local stations for varied carriage and broadcast plans). Each show will be available at NPR.org, and offered as a podcast and on NPR's mobile apps. Look for the first episode Friday at 10AM at askmeanother.npr.org.

Hosted by comedian, storyteller and Moth radio persona Ophira Eisenberg, Ask Me Another puts questions to a rotating band of puzzle gurus, audience members and (surprise!) mystery guests. What you'll hear resembles the casual intimacy of game night at a friend's house: one where scores are forgotten in favor of hilarious gaffes.

"Ask Me Another is - to put it simply - fun," says Eric Nuzum, vice president for programming at NPR. "It's everything we love about being entertained: it's full of surprising moments and 'I knew that' moments, and chances to show just how much otherwise useless knowledge we've all accumulated."

Contestants test their wits and wiles in front of the crowd during games like This, That or the Other, and Replacement Math. Try a couple:
Which of the three categories does Mimolette belong to? (This) cheese, (That) dance moves, or (the Other) characters from Moby Dick?
Jay-Z's problems, plus Three Dog Night's 'Loneliest Number'?
How about the Dalmatians, plus the Luftballoons, divided by Ali Baba's thieves? (Okay, okay, we'll give you the answers.*)
Featured mystery guests include author/humorist John Hodgman, Tony Award-winner Nikki M. James and blogger and media personality Meghan McCain. Each show also features a spontaneous soundtrack from computer programmer-turned-Internet phenomenon Jonathan Coulton.

Eisenberg, a performer with New York-based storytelling group The Moth, has been featured in New York Magazine's "Ten New Comedians That Funny People Find Funny" and highlighted in Back Stage as one of the "10 Standout Stand Ups Worth Watching." She writes a monthly column for The Comedians magazine, and is a regular contributor to US Weekly's "Fashion Police," Gawker.com, and the relationship advice site YourTango.com.

Ask Me Another is recorded live at The Bell House in Brooklyn, NY. Its entire 13 show run sold out of (free) tickets, taping before more than 4,000 audience members. Visit the show's Facebook page and follow its Twitter account (@NPRAskMeAnother) to learn more.

*Answers: This, That or the Other: This. Mimolette did not harpoon a famous whale. It is a cheese. Replacement Math: 100; 5.
