NPR NEWS CONFIRMS PRESIDENT OBAMA TO NOMINATE
GINA MCCARTHY AS EPA ADMINISTRATOR
AND ERNEST MONIZ FOR ENERGY SECRETARY

NPR News has learned that President Obama will nominate Gina McCarthy as the new Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency and Ernest Moniz for Secretary of Energy. NPR White House correspondent Scott Horsley reports the president will make the announcements this morning.

The report airs today on Morning Edition and is available now at NPR.org. While McCarthy and Moniz have been considered front-runners for the appointments, Horsley confirms the selections will be made official today, along with the choice of Sylvia Matthews Burwell to head the Office of Management and Budget. All three require Senate confirmation.
