NPR Names Michael Abrahams as
Manager, Program Communications and Marketing
Washington, DC – National Public Radio® (NPR®) has named Michael Abrahams as Manager, Program Communications and Marketing, effective immediately. Abrahams, who has been with NPR since 1992, has recently handled media and public relations for the award-winning programs All Things Considered®, Morning Edition® and NPR's Performance Today®, and for NPR's 25th anniversary celebration.
In this new position in Member and Program Services, Abrahams oversees marketing and sales, public and media relations, and station communications for NPR programming. He also works closely with NPR stations to enhance their own local visibility.
As a member of NPR's National Affairs team, Abrahams helped organize public radio's response to congressional attempts to eliminate funding for public broadcasting. He coordinated national advocacy and media campaigns to build community, congressional and institutional support for public radio. Abrahams' earlier experience includes work with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the National Retail Federation and various political campaigns.
Abrahams is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University.
