NPR Hires Former Member Station Executives In
Station Development Services Expansion



WASHINGTON, DC - In order to further support its member stations' fundraising and marketing efforts, National Public Radio®'s (NPR®'s) Member and Program Services division has hired two station executives for its expanding Station Development Services unit, formerly called On-Air Fundraising and Promotion. J.C. Patrick (KUHF-FM, Houston) and Jane Kelly (WRVO, Oswego, NY) have joined the department, which is led by Manager of Station Development Services Joyce Schrieber.

"We are delighted to welcome J.C. and Jane to NPR," said Mary Lou Kenny, Vice President of Member and Program Services. "They join a very talented Station Development Services staff. Together, we'll provide enhanced support to member stations interested in increasing local corporate underwriting, creating exceptional special events and maximizing on-air promotion."

Station Development Services will continue to manage the On-Air Fundraising Partnership and NPR's on-air promotion activities. It will also support stations' off-air fundraising efforts such as direct mail, underwriting and special events.

As NPR's Station Development Representative, Patrick will work with member stations in maximizing local corporate support for NPR programs. She will offer training and advisory resources for stations interested in increasing their corporate underwriting, and oversee the development of media kit templates for NPR programs designed for station customization. Patrick will work with NPR's Host Visit Coordinator Shana Brown in helping stations create special events featuring NPR hosts and correspondents.

During Patrick's tenure as Director of Marketing and Development at KUHF, the station received Corporation for Public Broadcasting and Development Exchange Incorporated awards for corporate support, overall development and special events. She currently serves as Treasurer for the Board of Directors of the Public Radio Association of Development Officers.

Jane Kelly is NPR's new Producer for On-Air Fundraising and Promotion. She produces NPR's "pitch break channel" versions of Morning Edition®, All Things Considered®, and Weekend Edition Saturday®. She also directs and evaluates NPR's on-air promotion efforts, and will offer member stations an on-air fundraising training program.

Kelly was Assistant Station Manager at WRVO and Adjunct Professor of Communications at Oswego State University, where she taught public speaking and broadcast production.
