NEWS MEDIA INFORMATION

To be admitted to the NPR/IPR Debate, news media will need a credential issued by NPR. To obtain credentials, please complete the form below. Space designated for news media in the debate filing center is extremely limited and we will try to accommodate as many requests as possible. You will be advised whether you have been granted a credential within 24 hours via email.

Credential pick-up
Credentials may be picked up at NPR/IPR Credential Check-in Desk at the State Historical Society of Iowa Museum, 600 East Locust Street on Monday, Dec. 3, 9:30AM-12:00PM and Tuesday, Dec. 4, 9:30AM-12:00N. To pick up your confirmed credential, you must show a valid press ID with photo or government-issued photo ID that matches the submitted credential form information. No one will be permitted to pick up others’ credentials.

Audio Availability During Debate
Live audio of the debate will be fed into the press filing center; a mult box for plug-in will be provided as well. ALL AUDIO IS EMBARGOED FROM USE UNTIL AFTER THE DEBATE IS CONCLUDED AT 3:00PM (CT). There will be no video feed of the debates in the filing center.

Any use of NPR audio after broadcast must be credited to “NPR News.”

The debates will be aired on Iowa Public Radio (WOI 90.1 FM, WOI 640 AM, KUNI 101.7 FM and KDMR 88.9 FM in Des Moines; check www.iowapublicradio.org for statewide listings. The debate will also be broadcast/webcast on numerous NPR Member stations around the country; please check their local websites for details. A live audio stream will also be available at www.npr.org

Wireless Broadband Internet Access
Soapbox Systems will provide a free high-speed Wifi wireless Internet access "HotSpot" within the press filing center. Reporters using a laptop, PDA or other Wi-Fi enabled device will be able to use the service free of charge.

Hardwire LAN plug connections may be ordered directly from Soapbox at websoapbox.com, by e-mail at order@websoapbox.com, or on-site at the NPR/Iowa Public Radio Debates.

Still Photographers and Videographers
There will be a pool photo and video spray with the candidates and debate hosts immediately before and after the debate.

NPR will have a photographer shooting segments of the debate. Photos will be posted at http://www.npr.org/about/press/2007_iowa_debates.html starting 1:45 PM on December 4, 2007. They are available to all media organizations for use; photo credit must read “©2007 NPR Photo by David Lienemann”

No television cameras or other photographers will be permitted in the studio during the debates.

Transcripts and Audio Availability
Transcripts and audio clips will be available at http://www.npr.org/about/press/2007_iowa_debates.html starting 1:30PM on December 4, 2007.

Parking
There is a free parking garage, Capitol Complex Parking, on the Northwest corner of East Penn Ave and Grand Ave. entered on Grand Ave or on Des Moines Street (1 block north or Grand Ave).

Video Crew space
During the debate broadcast, video crews are welcome to hear the debate in the facility’s Auditorium, which is adjacent to the Broadcast Spin Room.

Satellite Truck Parking
Satellite trucks may park on either side of the building on Grand Ave (north side of the building) or Locust Ave (southside of the building closest to the Broadcast Spin Room). There are no parking meters on the east (East Penn Ave) and west (6th Ave) sides of the building.
