April 27, 2009 All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen returns from a two-week break with new musical discoveries. Hear the cinematic songs of Patrick Watson, an artist who mashes together everything from bicycle sounds to cartoon samples. Also on the program: The gorgeous, contemplative songs of Christopher Tignor, MGMT's musical soulmate Suckers, the irrepressible energy of The Akron/Family, music from a lonely Casiotone, and the London-based, sharp-witted rock group Art Brut.

February 13, 2009 Though Casiotone for the Painfully Alone has traditionally been a one-man-band, Chicago resident Owen Ashworth is joined by a few friends on Advance Base Battery Life. His upcoming album is a compilation of singles, rarities previously released only on limited edition vinyl, and surprising covers of songs by Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, and Missy Elliott, all recorded from 2004-2007.
