Highlights

Project Song is an original Web video program from NPR Music and our Web-only music program All Songs Considered.  For each episode, NPR Music invites an artist or band into our studios for two days. The challenge: write and record and original song on camera.

At the start of each show, host Bob Boilen presents a series of six photographs and six phrases. The songwriters pick one of each to be the inspiration for their song.

To date, NPR has completed two Project Song episodes. Episode three is in production. Each has shown off a completely different songwriting style, demonstrated different approaches to recording and explored different aspects of the creative process.

Episode three will feature jazz vocalist and songwriter Nellie McKay.

Each episode of Project Song is available in our streaming Web video archive and as a podcast. To date, we've also created two radio segments for NPR's All Things Considered based on the project.  The video producers are John Poole and David Gilkey. Senior producers are Anya Grundman and Joe Matazzoni. Host and show creator is All Songs Considered's Bob Boilen.

All Songs Considered is NPR.org's acclaimed weekly music-discovery program – available as streaming audio, a podcast and a broadcast. The program melds contemporary music, live concerts, videos and artist interviews to offer a truly eclectic music mix.
