Today begins a new chapter for our beloved blog as we welcome Alva Noë as the newest member of the 13.7 team. Alva is a professor of philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley, where he is also a member of the Institute for Cognitive and Brain Sciences and the Center for New Media.

He is the author of Out of Our Heads: Why You Are Not Your Brain and Other Lessons From The Biology of Consciousness(Hill and Wang, 2009) and Action in Perception (MIT Press, 2004). His new book Varieties of Presence will be published by Harvard University Press in 2011. He is now at work on a book about art and human experience.
We are very excited to have him join us in thinking about life, the Universe and... well... you know.
