I never had a chance to weigh in when NPR did their survey. Here are my votes
1. Dune (Frank Herbert)
2. The Rediscovery of Man (Cordwainer Smith)
3. The Foundation Trilogy (Issac Asimov)
4. Neuromancer (Willam Gibson)
5. Eon (Greg Bear)
Number 2 is really a collection of short stories but Cordwainer Smith (aka Paul Linebarger) is simply one of the greatest, strangest science fiction writers ever, anywhere.
