Girl Power

The (now former) president of Harvard University got into hot water not so long ago for voicing his opinion that women lack what it takes to succeed in math and science. The best new cognitive science is pretty definitive that there are no cognitively significant biological or psychological differences between men and women. Are women held back in math and science? If so, don't look to the make-up of men and women for an explanation of this. Look rather to the way in which we, as individuals and as a collective, enact what, in the end, are nothing more than stereotypes.

But maybe things are changing!

(Thanks to Emily Jacobs for the pointer!)
