We want to know your vinyl habits.
If The New York Times says it, then it must be so: Vinyl is back.
Maybe that's an exaggeration; sales of newly-pressed vinyl albums are up, but still very, very small compared to both CD sales and downloads. But many electronics stores (among those that are left) have added turntables to their inventories.
With the resurgence of the format, I can't help think of my own story: I gave up my turntable years ago, but I bought a used one over the summer from a co-worker (for $25!). I haven't played a CD at home since.
Blue Note. Tico. Prestige. Fania.
Jazz. Boleros. Salsa. Soul. Rock. (I played the first Journey album; my wife thought it was Spinal Tap!)
It was like catching up with with old friends.
Of course, for some jazz fans, vinyl never left. If you're one of those people, I'm curious about your listening habits. If you stayed true to vinyl during the CD years, did you just replay your collection, or did you go crate diving at local used stores or regional swap meets? Did you pay top dollar for newly pressed Blue Note classics? Did you buy from online outlets? eBay?
Drop us a line and let's compare notes over virtual drinks (even if you're a milk and cookies kind of person). First question to start things off: What is that one elusive LP that you have been on the hunt for?
