A Jazzman With A Healthy Appetite

I can confirm: since this photo was taken, Jamie Saft's beard has grown even more epic.

A food blog is my new favorite thing on the Jazz Internet. It's penned by a one Jazzman, who identifies himself as follows: "I'm the jazzman BEAHTCH. M'HUNGRAYYYYY!!!!!!!" Apropos of this, he eats a fair amount of delicious foods — especially meats — then photographs them and posts the results to the Internet. Simple concept, well executed. Jazzman is actually Jamie Saft, a multi-instrumentalist and film composer best known to jazz folks as a sideman to John Zorn and a keyboardist of some renown. His own record label specializes in "Noise Metal, Avant Blues, and Free Jazz," and, of course, it's called Veal Records. At Winter Jazz Fest, I saw him play organ in his Whoopie Pie band, which is more or less a saxophone trio a la doom-metal, and it kind of blew my mind. Also, his names for things even have to do with eating. Amazing. (H/T @peterhum) [Blog: Salad Days: Eating With The Jazzman]
