Town: Newport by way of Antigua
Hey.
Whoo! Whoo! WHOO!!! YES!!! I FEEL YOU!!! WHOOOOOO!!!
I hate to interrupt you, but what is this you're watching?
I'm watching an off-the-chart bunch of musicians! They are performing incredibly. I've never heard this sound at the jazz festival before.
You've been here before?
This is my fourth year.
Where are you from?
I'm from Newport, but I was born in Antigua.
What do you do here in Newport?
I'm a musician. I play a lot of different kinds of music, a lot of instruments. And I'm just enjoying my jazz festival.
So you would recommend Ken Vandermark to others?
Yes. I've never heard anything like it. This is what jazz should be about. No programs — just all heart. I'm so happy that I can’t describe it.
