Hello from San Francisco! A Blog Supreme is soon headed to the Monterey Jazz Festival, some 110-odd miles south of our present location in coastal northern California, for the first time ever. We're thrilled to be attending a truly premier jazz event: the world's oldest continuously-operating jazz festival. The music goes on Friday-Sunday, Sept. 16-18, 2011.

In the coming days, we'll be presenting special online coverage from the festival here. We'll be previewing the event, co-hosting a live video feed, writing updates, posting photos, talking with fans and musicians, seeing a lot of shows and wrapping it up when it's all over. You can follow us here at npr.org/blogsupreme, and Twitter (@blogsupreme) and Facebook (NPR Jazz).

Oh yes: We're also planning to do a little recording too. For this go-round, we've specifically targeted a few favorite artists who we haven't had the pleasure of presenting yet at NPR Music. We'll present a few of their sets here when all is said and done, starting Monday, Sept. 19.
