Cab Calloway, Tour Guide

Wherein the great singer, dancer and bandleader explains an animated map of Harlem in the '30s and '40s. Dig the club called The Yeah Man.

This charming video clip is a part of an upcoming PBS documentary on Calloway for the American Masters series. The whole film mixes traditional documentary interviews and archival footage with animation. That seems appropriate for Calloway, one of music history's more animated entertainers.

The documentary premieres Feb. 27 nationwide — check your local PBS listings. But you can hear NPR's Jazz Profiles audio documentary now.
