At exactly 2:30 pm EST, Vampire Weekend debuted a new song on its Web site. It's called "Horchata."
The site featured a large clock counting down the seconds to the moment the song was scheduled to be available. But it wasn't the only tease. A few weeks ago, www.ithinkuracontra.com posted a photograph of a yellow polo-clad blonde woman under the heading Vampire Weekend: Contra, the name of Vampire Weekend's upcoming album.
Starting this morning, a four-hour countdown began on the Vampire Weekend site, and much speculation followed. As the clock ran down, the site changed, and the new track popped up. You can stream the song on the site, or you can download it for free. The band has been playing around with viral marketing for their new album, Contra, since its release date was pushed back to January 12th of next year.
