Music and Politics Don't Mix

by Bob Boilen

How best to show your passion for a candidate's stand on healthcare reform? For the women in the following three videos, the answer is simple: Sing a song and put it on YouTube.

So who's it going to be? The John McCain Girls? Obama Girl? Or will the remake of the Mary Tyler Moore theme put Hillary Clinton over the top for you?

Cast your vote now.

McCain girls also did "Here Comes McCain (the Rain) Again" It was terrifying.

My personal feeling is that it's all about how the video is made. Obama girl's video is funny, she's recognizes that it's a little absurd. It doesn't seem like the McCain girls get that.

The Hillary video was just a little early-90s theme song for me. Also, it takes itself a little too seriously.

Laverne and Shirley.

These are all terrible, the only thing you should use YouTube for is checking out bands....and watching hockey fights.

i have to second ben's comments.

the obama was fun cus it didn't take itself too seriously. and whoever was singing on it knew how to sing. and it was funny! especially the line about wanting him to break down the border between him and her!

listening to the other two videos was just painful.

but despite the awful singing, i must admit the mccain one had a few humorous moments too.

To clarify Brian's comment: the Hillary song is a taken from the show, "Laverne and Shirley." MTM's theme started with the line, "Who can turn the world on with her smile?" (The song is "Love Is All Around", written and performed by Sonny Curtis.)

Yikes.

Obama Girl is far and away the best (and funniest) of the lot.
