First off, no, I don't have anything better to do. Second, with the season finale of True Blood looming, I got to daydreaming today about life as a vampire. The clothes, the chicks, the endless nights. Given the option, would I prefer to be a vampire? I asked Bob what he thought, and he questioned why I'd even ponder such a thing, but I immediately replied with, "Immortality, duh!" Also, I don't really care for the sun.
Kevin Barnes (of Montreal)? Zombie.
Anyway, while I was considering this, I was auditioning a new multitrack mix of the recent Iggy and the Stooges concert we recorded this past weekend (we hope to have it on the site for you to hear soon), and wondered, in a world of zombies and vampires, which Iggy would be. Obviously, a zombie. Then I thought, no. He's a shapeshifter. Then I went back to zombie. David Bowie is a vampire. So is Bryan Ferry. Billy Joel is definitely a zombie. So are all the members of Hanson. So I started going through my iTunes library: Andrew Bird? Vampire. The Antlers? All vampires. The Beach Boys? Zombies. Dan Deacon? Man, I don't know. Maybe an ogre of some sort? He's a wild card. Courtney Love is a zombie... or maybe a zombie-vampire. Fiona Apple? Vampire.
So I went back to Bob with this information and asked for his input, but he had no idea what I was babbling about, and just as quickly went back to — get this — looking for CDs for next week's All Songs Considered.
But come on. I know you know what I'm talking about. When the world inevitably cleaves into warring camps of zombies and vampires, which artist or band is on which side?
