The proceeds from the sale of Waits' work will benefit the homeless in Sonoma County, Calif.
Legendary songwriter Tom Waits has written a new poem, "Seeds on a Hard Ground," and he's releasing it in a bound, limited first-edition hard copy. Waits' empathetic hymn, which speaks through the voices of those affected by poverty and homelessness, appeared on his website in its entirety Thursday.
Fittingly, Waits and Anti Records plan to siphon all of the poem's proceeds to Sonoma County's Homeless Referral Services, Redwood Food Bank.
In its bound form, "Seeds" is limited to 1,000 copies each in North America and Europe. Orders may be placed now for the piece's Feb. 22 release at Waits' and Anti's sites.
