Dear Idiots: Music Of The '90s

We've got the greatest fans at All Songs Considered. We can always count on you for show ideas, tips on new music discoveries and plenty of debate — especially in our comments section whenever we do a themed show, like our latest one on music of the '90s. (My all-time favorite listener comment on one of our past lists read, "How dare you include X?! And I see no mention of Y!").

It's impossible, of course, to cover everything on our show. Our discussions, especially on something as big as an entire decade's worth of music, are really just a starting point. For this show, we each chose stuff to fit several categories: Best Album Of The '90s, Best Song, Biggest Surprise, Defining Trend and one artist or band that's still relevant today.

We hope the discussion continues here. So give a listen to the latest show, then jump in here and tell us your own picks. And tell us what we missed — what artists should we have mentioned but didn't? What albums or songs should we have played but didn't? And who's the biggest idiot on the show? It's Bob or Stephen, isn't it? (I know it's not me or the amazing music critic Ann Powers, who's just joined the NPR Music team after a stint as the Chief Pop Critic at the L.A. Times.)
