Last month, we followed Son Lux's creative process as the artist (also known as Ryan Lott) participated in the RPM challenge, in which musicians have a month to write and record an entire album. Lott's documentation of the project, as it's unfolded on this blog, lets listeners witness the birth of the upcoming full-length record, We Are Rising, from the very beginning.
When it came to shooting the album art, the artist asked the crafty collective The Made Shop to help out. Just as Lott dreamed up, recorded and finalized his album in 28 days, TMS spent just 28 hours creating the visual piece — which happens to also incorporate 28 smoke bombs.
