The question on everyone's mind: Is Robin Hilton actually a lizard creature, perhaps from another planet, disguised as a human? And is he part of a magnificent reptilian race that's secretly controlling our lives?

The short answer is, maybe? The Austin-based band Zorch, a duo I gushed about on our South by Southwest preview show back in March, tackles these questions and more on the group's latest song, "Lesbian Seagull."

I'm not sure what "lesbian seagull" is a reference to, not that it matters. But the reptilian reference they make comes from the killer Zorch track I played on the show called "Zut Alore," which includes the lines "Giant surprise / we are lizards disguised / and we're controlling your lives / with trilateral spies."

This is pure speculation on my part, but if I had to guess I'd say they're referring to writer David Icke's theory that all of humanity is controlled by a secret group of reptilian humanoids called the Babylonian Brotherhood. According to Icke, lots of big names are actually lizard-people, including George W. Bush and Queen Elizabeth II. In all fairness, he's probably right. (These theories are also alluded to on the opening cut to the new Bright Eyes record The People's Key).

By the way, I pronounced the band name as "zork" on the show, like "fork," but I've since learned you say the "ch" so it's more like "torch."

I strongly recommend you download Zorch's free demo from the band's website.
