If you've questioned whether the web is really going mobile, AT&T released some interesting stats today. They found that for the first time, smartphones were the No. 1 users of WiFi hot spots.
They report:
Sixty percent of all AT&T Wi-Fi connections in the third quarter were made by integrated devices, up from 49 percent in the previous quarter. This could mean lots of things, but I think it very clearly points out that people are using their cellphones instead of their laptops to surf the web. It probably means that we are finally at a point in history where an endless stream of information and knowledge is literally at our fingertips. It probably means that the real-time web is creeping into the mainstream.
