In this week's All Tech Considered segment, Skye Road brought us a report on e-decorating. After her piece, we also talked about these topics:
- It's a big week for Microsoft: Windows 7 launches Thursday. It's a kind of do-over from the last version of Windows, Vista. I installed it recently and have been pleased so far, as have some early reviewers. It also looks like the first Windows retail store will open this week in Scottsdale, Ariz.
- Not sure if your older hardware can handle an upgrade to Windows 7? Microsoft has an Upgrade Advisor application you can download for free.
- Microsoft has also been working on SenseCam, a lifecasting tool that could also benefit those afflicted with Alzheimer's.
- Finland is making broadband Internet a right by law for its 5.3 million citizens. The next step: even faster (100 Mbps) broadband for all by the end of 2015.
- On the heels of our blog post about Sprint's bird call ringtones, we also found a cell phone made in part from corn and one from T-Mobile that is made from recycled plastic bottles.
- And, of course, we mentioned "Sockscriptions," an online service for ordering socks.
