Best Song In The World Today!

Band: The Polyphonic Spree
Song: "Run Away"
Album: The Fragile Army

Part rock band, part gospel choir, all Texas, The Polyphonic Spree is one of the more unique musical acts to come along in a while. I was a big fan of their last album, to the point of wearing out the CD. (Remember those? Hilarious!) Anyway, The Spree have a new record coming out June 19th. The video is composed of over 70,000 still photos, and the song is pretty great too. I think I like these guys so much cause the music reminds me of my days as a young kid living on a religious commune. Check it out:

Luke I think your life growing up in a religious commune is definitely worth a blog post!

I love Polyphonic Spree.

One of their vocalists, Annie Clark, is releasing an album soon under the band name St. Vincent. Also very, very good. Much darker though. The two'd complement each other nicely, I'm sure.

Back the train up; how long did you live there, Luke?

Just a bit curious; there was a (somewhat odd) period in my life that I was looking at joining the Jesus People in Chicago.

Long time ago.

I lived at The Lighthouse Ranch (it's not just a salad dressing anymore!) and other commune-type housing until I was 5 or 6. Then my folks moved us to Seattle, where we attended a sort of satellite version of the same church (known as Gospel Outreach). In Seattle we lived in a normal house though. My parents were some serious Jesus People though at one time. You should see the outfits they wore... woulda fit right in with The Polyphonic Spree.
