Well it's been a rough couple of weeks for President Bush, as he's had to face major opposition from an unlikely source—his base. At issue is the proposed immigration bill, a piece of compromise legislation that seems to be facing resistance from various sectors. The battle between Bush and his conservative backers came to a head late last week, when Bush appeared to question the patriotism of anyone who would question the bill. Well the base didn't take kindly to that, as evidenced by columns such as the one by conservative blogger Robert Bluey entitled, "Bush's Blunder: How Not To Fire Up The Base." Bluey works at the Heritage Foundation and hosts Bluey Blog. He joined Alison and Luke to discuss the tension between Bush and his base over the immigration bill.
