The Ramble: The Popemobile, The Hottest Shoes, and The Webbys

We cover many topics both large and small in our editorial meetings, but because we don't have a full show up and running yet, we never get to talk about most of them, especially the ones that don't really warrant full segments. So today we present a new feature called The Ramble, where Luke and Alison make their way though a few stories that caught our eyes. First up is the Popemobile, which has been in the news today. Is Popemobile really the official name of that orb on wheels? Next up, Alison noticed that internet searches for "ballet flats" are through the roof, one sure sign that they're hot hot hot. We called up Miss Meghan, self-proclaimed "fashion authority of all things shoe," to tell us why. And finally, The Webbys were awarded last night. The best thing about those awards is that the acceptance speeches can only be five words long. And there were some good ones. NPR won for Best Podcasts, which we're assuming includes us, and took home the People's Voice Award for Best Radio. Go us!

I dig the ramble, and I like the intro music. It is the antithesis of the intro music that I dislike the most on NPR, which is the music that introduces the business stories on Morning Edition. That stuff is like nails on a chalkboard for me!
