This segment is fine. You know that I prefer the death toll all at once and not listed for everyday.

Other than that, I wonder what the News Busters blog from the right-leaning Media Research Center would say about the analysis. They wouldn't like it. I don't mind the analysis nor am I going to refer it to those bloggers.

While I think watchdog groups like Media Matters and News Busters can provide some good counterpoints--I think as a journalist you have to concentrate on doing your best to be
straight up and not think toooo much about someone waiting for you to allegedly slip up.

Alison,

I agree with you that journalists should focus on their job and not on those watchdog organizations. My point is that many conservative groups wouldn't have liked the overall segment, but sadly I feel that the segment mirrors the truth much better than groups like the News Busters bloggers.

Here's a question about the news biz: Do news execs pay attention to what organizations Media Matters and the Media Research Center say about their journalists?

While we're talking about partisan news watchdog organizations, I would find a weekly segment in which representatives from the Right and Left came on to discuss how the press are treating major news stories of the week very compelling. Making a person from each side confront each other would likely lead to some interesting listening. What do you think? This could serve as a BPP's Cokie Roberts/Juan Williams weekly feature.
