Brits Hopping Mad over Digital TV. You're Next.

If you think about it this series of events has been happening for many years as the major companies have in my opinion conspired to make us buy things that we dont really need. We have progressed into CD's as the phasing out of cassettes has happened over the last 15 years as we have with DVD's and video cassettes.This is also true with many other items that have lasted over the time expectancy that the manufacturer has allotted. If they do not develop new lines that are not compatable with the older forms we are forced to buy and line their pocket books as we dwindle our own.

Best Buy just pulled all analog TVs from its shelves so consumers won't be stuck with TVs they think are new but are really obsolete from the moment they come out of the box. There's also a program at the US Department of Commerce to assist low-income families receive digital tuners so their analog TVs will work once the transition takes place. I'm not sure how many people will be eligible for the assistance, though.

Americans should watch less TV anyway. According to Nielsen, the "average" American watches more than 4 hours of TV per day! Don't buy into the "conspiracy", go outside, meet your neighbors, make a community.
