Schwarzenegger Meets Press, Shakes Its Arm

Kind of an amazing clip from coverage of the California fires. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, faced with questions from Good Morning America's Claire Shipman, decided to let her know what a positive story this all was. Schwarzenegger grabbed Shipman's arm and shook it as he spoke:

Trust me when I tell you, you're looking for a mistake and you won't find it because it's all good news, as much as you maybe hate it, but it's good news. Trust me, okay?

I'm so glad that when there's a disaster in California, they think to provide yoga classes. Just think how different things could have been in Katrina. Yoga classes, that's the key to happy disaster refugees.

Okay, yoga classes??? Come on T-2 you can come up with something better than yoga classes. He talks about how these people are happy...well I'm sure they are happy to be alive but they still lost all their belongings, things that insurance cannot replace. I doubt they are partying in the streets.

"Happy" is not a word I would use to describe people who have lost everything. This reminds me of Barbara Bush's ridiculous comments on Katrina evacuees:

How good it is to see the Governor acting as the adult in this conversation with the adolescent and sophomoric recipient of Affirmative Action. This fool couldn't do a intellectually consistent interview if God himself gave her the questions. False premise, transparent agenda; what you got? Media smackdown!!

So glad that the saints at NPR will be scrutinizing my comments to make sure that they pass muster. In the words of George Orwell "some animals are more equal than others". Thanks for looking out for us lesser animals.

The Governor was right. She was looking for and wanting there to be mistakes. Good for him for calling her on it.
