Tomorrow's BPP Menu

description

Have a scoop of this.

From arcticglass.blogspot.com

Hello, my name is Tricia and I'll be your server. Here's the banquet we're preparing for your ears tomorrow:

We have a full, robust discussion (lightly salted) about sex education, in light of a new report showing that the number of cases of sexually transmitted diseases is rising in the U.S.

We're also offering a tasty morsel of a conversation about an increase in the number of college kids studying foreign languages--topped off with an exotically spicy interview with a student who's studying Arabic.

We have a full, robust discussion (lightly salted) about sex education, in light of a new report showing that the number of cases of sexually transmitted diseases is rising in the U.S.

If you're looking for more nutritious fare with a flavorful twist, we'll do our patented "Make Me Care" segment about the estate tax.

And if you can't afford an expensive meal because you're not working right now, we have a story about a woman whose film-centered business is on hold because of the writers' strike.

For a palate-cleansing sorbet, we offer a look at unscripted moments on the campaign trail, like this video of John McCain dealing with a supporter who asks a question in an indelicate manner.

If you like granola, we have an interview and performance with singer-songwriter Mark Olson.

On our kids' menu, along with the chicken nuggets and French fries, we'll take a look at some old-school "Sesame Street" episodes that would never make it on the air today.

For dessert, we offer a frozen confection--a woman who's planning to undertake the Iditarod trail in Alaska--by bike.

And for a late-night snack, we'll talk about the winners and losers of the National Book Awards.

Enjoy your meal!

NPR's "Bryant Park Project" morning show loses co-host Luke Burbank.
Two months into the New York-based show aimed at 25-44s, Luke says "it really sucks" being 3000 miles away from his 13-year-old daughter back in Seattle - so he's leaving on December 14. He apparently doesn't have a job lined up back there, but (says the Seattle Times) he's been checking out the prospects. Luke worked at highly-rated KUOW and contributed to NPR shows like "This American Life", "All Things Considered" and "Morning Edition" -- the public radio mothership he now competes with -- before going national with NPR. I also heard him substitute for emcee Peter Sagal on "Wait, Wait--Don't Tell Me", and he did a great job.

While the granola was a little soft, the late-night snack gave me some intellectual indigestion, and the dessert was cold and dry, this was a very tasty, well-rounded, and nutritious meal. Give my complements to the chefs. Can't wait to feast on tomorrow's post-debate BPP buffet.
