Voters in Florida went to the primary polls Tuesday. Or some of them.

Turnout was reported to be "brisk in Clearwater," the town where these photos were taken. More after the jump.

Twitter friend @kittydew sent these images from her Clearwater polling place, a local church. About 10 percent of all eligible voters cast an absentee ballot, NPR reports. "In the last Florida GOP contest in 2000, 700,000 Republicans voted," writes NPR's Nancy Cook. "This year, about 1.9 million did. Democratic turnout was also up dramatically from 2000 and 2004, with at least 1.7 million voting on that side."

Another report put the turnout at 15 percent. For the record, in the big national race, John McCain won the Republican primary by five percent. No delegates were at stake in the Democratic primary, because the national party declined to sanction the vote after Florida moved the date to January. Even so, writes Cook, "Democratic turnout was also up dramatically from 2000 and 2004, with at least 1.7 million voting on that side."

Democratic contender Hillary Clinton took 50 percent of the ballots. Rival Barack Obama pulled in 33 percent.

I must admit, I went around 10AM specifically hoping to get in between the "voting on the way to work" and the "voting at lunch" crowd. Still, it was pretty darn dead. Where were all my fellow Obama voters! :-(
