David Horvitz Sells It All

Star Sand

Yours for $1,626.

Want some star sand from the island of Iriomote? David Horvitz will get you some -- for a price. Strike the right price, and Horvitz will go as far from his house as possible (Perth, Australia, here he comes!) or think of someone he owes an apology and pay up in writing (you get a copy of the letter).

I'm interested in whether the BPP crowd would like to meet this guy. Check him out and let us know.

It took a while of looking through his lists to be convinced, but I think so. I did like the homeless person one.

However, I already have friends in Perth :)

Sure. However, I stayed at a youth hostel on Iriomote and they gave me a small bag of those star shaped shells for free... I guess if you can't get yourself to Japan, it might be worth $1626, but something tells me that if you can spend that much on 4 tiny shells, you can get yourself to Japan. I'm just sayin'.

I subscribe to his daily emails - he sends out a photo of the New York sky that he takes each day - and his blog. I would definitely be interested in hearing more about him.

Quirky. I really like the idea where he feeds the homeless.

Sure, have him on. I'm kind of interested in whether or not he just happens to be really entrepreneurial or just a little wacky. The psychology of this guy could be pretty interesting.

Also, while you're asking for listener input, is it possible to (once in a while) have a blog entry wherein we can suggest stories or bands we'd like you to cover? I'm in Omaha and we're getting some really talented indie bands who deserve to be recognized. I'd also like to have the opportunity to preview little-known bands from other parts of the country, too. You know, without actually taking a trip there or investing in a CD.

I think he would make a fine interview. Just the volume of unique ideas he comes up prove that he is an interesting person. They almost read like little short stories.

I checked out his site yesterday and it made me happy that someone is doing *something* (something other than waking up and joining the legions of daily grinders). I think he might be a good interview.
